To me, reading other people's blog is like being able to read other people's minds. By reading or just browsing through someone else's blog you get to know a piece of that person, even if you hadn't really met personally or didn't know that that person exist.
I like reading blogs of people I don't really know simply because it gives me new perspective on a lot of things. Of course there are blogs that are senseless, some are just plain TMI, and there are those who are worth reading because they write stories really well (both in pictures and in words).
